The Taj - Garden Hotel Periyar

Overview:  This is a delightful hotel and the best place to stay if you are visiting Periyar.  The hotel is situated in beautiful grounds full of flowers and lush green foliage. It is a quiet hotel, with comfortable rooms, nice dining and good service.  

The public areas. The foyer and public rooms spacious and very well maintained.  You cannot compare this hotel to the lavish heritage hotels or the stunning Oberoi hotels but it is a nice retreat in the Southern Indian style. The scenery from the public rooms is delightful and you do feel that you are out in the countryside. The property has a swimming pool plus a pleasant indoor/outdoor dinning area

The bedrooms:  

The Taj Garden Retreat, Periyar, has 32 charmingly rustic, thatched roof villas on stilts. Each of the guest-rooms come with well furnished look, adorned by beautiful natural fabrics. Each room has an attached bath with shower. All the rooms feature all the amenities you would expect in nice hotel.  The rooms have marble bathrooms, king size beds, sitting areas and small decks. Each room is named after a native bird or animal and the room has a stained glass window and pictures depicting the bird or animal.
