Overview: Since opening in 1903 the Taj Palace and hotel and has been a landmark building. The Taj is located right on the waterfront of the busy harbor across from the Gateway of India, a monument built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary. It is an imposing and beautiful hotel that is immaculately maintained. The hotel features many opulent suites and has been the hotel of choice for many visiting celebrities. The hotel is huge and is built around a series foyers, rooms and hallways. Indian influences are featured with beautiful vaulted alabaster ceilings, onyx columns, graceful archways, hand-woven silk carpets, crystal chandeliers, a magnificent art collection, and a dramatic cantilever stairway. The public areas. The foyer and public rooms are lavish and feature many unique pieces of art, sculpture and very unique furnishings. The out door patio and dining area pictured below is in front of the courtyard with a pool and is a wonderful place to sit and relax. There are 9 different venues for food including many different types of cuisines.
The bedrooms: The rooms are located from corridors that go up the entire structure of the building as pictured above. 565 rooms and so many different configurations and prices it is impossible to cover here. Pictured below are two of the standard type rooms that are very spacious and feature nice modern bathrooms. The suites here are incredible and there are many different categories of suites.
